PE & Sport Premium

Our vision for PESSPA (Physical Education, School Sport and Physical Activity)

At Skylark Federation, our curriculum is designed so that all students can achieve and succeed through experiences that build upon and revisit concepts. We aim for students to master skills and knowledge through the production of high-quality work where the learning journey is shared which allows them to be an active participant in their learning.

Our PE provision allows students from Early Years to Year 6 to experience a wide range of physical activity and competitive sport that helps them to develop their health, fitness and wellbeing in a safe and supportive environment. We offer a rich and varied experience to all students with the opportunity to compete, achieve their personal best and to develop their leadership skills.

Our curriculum for physical education aims to ensure that all pupils:

Develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities

  • Are physically active for sustained periods of time
  • Engage in competitive sports and activities
  • Lead healthy, active lifestyles

We also hold the awarded the afPE Quality Mark + Distinction for 3 years through the Association for Physical Activity.

WHAT IS THE SPORTS PREMIUM?

The Government is providing funding directly to primary school headteachers to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all their children. The funding is ring-fenced and can only be spent on sport and PE provision in schools. The amount of PE and sport funding which schools receive is based upon the number of children they have in Years 1-6.

When a school receives an Ofsted Inspection, they will assess how schools spend their PE and sports funding. Governors and the schools’ Improvement Partner will also ask about and assess how the funding is spent in between Ofsted inspections.
